On 20 March 2020, aboutagirl, a rising pop duo from London, release their fourth single “B List”. aboutagirl is made up of Tom Mann and Lostboy, two young, well-established pop writers, who came together after they realised their shared desire to create their own alternative-contemporary pop music.
B List tells the story of a dreamlike experience; a surreal one-night stand with a person who is seemingly unattainable and out of your league. It lyrically channels feelings of self-doubt throughout the experience, with the track’s main hook being “guess I’m way too B-list to be around”. Speaking about their upcoming single, Tom Mann and Lostboyof aboutagirl said: “B List was the first song that we ever wrote as aboutagirl, and it really set the tone for everything that we wanted to create and release musically. When we set out to write it, we were listening to a lot of blackbear and Vince Staples which really influenced the sounds we used on the track. We’re really excited to finally put it out!”
aboutagirl’s early releases “Forest Fire”, “KaMiKaZe” and “Deep Sea Diving”each received a great reaction, with support secured from BBC Radio 1, as well as key press looks from Alfitude, When The Horn Blows, That Buzzing Sound and many more. The release of B List comes soon after Rita Ora’s new single ‘How To Be Lonely’, which was written and produced by the duo alongside pop’s favourite heartthrob Lewis Capaldi. The duo’s remixes of DuaLipa’s‘Swan Song’ and DermotKennedy’s ‘Outnumbered’ have also racked up over a million streams, propelling the duo to fans across the globe. The release of B List further develops the electro-pop sound that aboutagirl has become known for, with the track continuing to demonstrate the duo’s feelings on everything that’s happening in the world around them.
Equally informed by The 1975 as they are by Drake, the duo’s new single “B List” is set to be released on all digital services on Friday 20 March 2020 and is available from this link: https://AWAL.lnk.to/B-list.
