aboutagirl, a rising pop duo from London, release their second single “KaMiKaZe”. Made up of Tom Mann and Lostboy – two young but well-established pop writers, the duo came together after they realised their shared desire to create their own alternative-contemporary pop music, giving their own personal commentary on the world around them.
aboutagirl has already been building hype with support across both Spotify and BBC Radio 1, with their debut single “Forest Fire” being played on the station’s Best New Pop after its release in May.
Speaking on the track, the duo state: “KaMiKaZe” is about dealing with paranoia, people talking badly about you, and the idea that you don’t need or want to hear it.”
The track’s fresh, jagged production and vocals drawing on urban rhythms and melodies blend in an unorthodox but genre-defining style, cementing and clarifying identity.
Shoreditch’s Bache’s Street has been overtaken by a KaMiKaZe mural to coincide with the single’s release. Incorporating the vivid colours of the single’s artwork, fans can post their own photos with it using thehashtags#KaMiKaZeand #aboutagirl.
