Victoria Anthony has already sung in front of tens of thousands of people, racked up millions of streams and received praise from her pop heroes including P!nk and Sarah McLachlan. Today, she releases a motivating and bold bop “Sleep,” the first single off her forthcoming 2020 debut album. Victoria co-wrote the song with industry heavyweights Justin Gray (Avril Lavigne, Luis Fonsi, Mariah Carey) and Lauren Dyson (BTS), the former of whom produced the track and the legendary Tony Maserati (Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Maggie Rogers) mixed it.
The song is paired with an interpolated rotoscope animated video created by Taylor Swift’s go-to team, ST8MNT.
“Sleep” celebrates living life to the fullest and not wanting to slow down, even to sleep. “Sleep” serves as a perfect introduction to the wise-beyond-her-years singer and demonstrates Victoria’s ability to embed emotion and meaning into even the most danceable tune. Victoria says, “I wrote ‘Sleep’ because I wanted a song that you could dance to but that has meaning for me and hopefully for my listeners. Writing ‘Sleep’ helped me to discover my newfound perspective on life: to live in the moment, to work hard, and try to live without regrets.”
In 2018, Victoria went viral at age 12 when her idol P!nk invited her to sing in front of 20,000 people at Rogers Arena in Victoria’s hometown of Vancouver, Canada. The experience and the worldwide press coverage that followed propelled Victoria to begin writing her own original music, though she has been singing since pre-school and taught herself to play both guitar and piano before she turned 12. Now, Victoria is working with some of the biggest names in music and creating a sound that perfectly balances irresistibly danceable pop with introspection and a driving force to always take the good times with the tough times.
