Highly-acclaimed electronic duo The Penelopes are back with their sensational new single and video, “Meet Me By The Gates” featuring Isabelle Adjani. Released via Pour Le Monde, the track is their first release since the 2017 EP Leave Them All Behind.
The latest single from the eclectic French act is their first partnership with Isabelle Adjani, the iconic French actress who last released an album in 1983 when she collaborated with the famous French songwriter, Serge Gainsbourg. The internationally acclaimed actress also stars in the “Meet Me By The Gates” music video (WATCH), a cinematic experience beautifully bringing the dynamic track to life through an artistic visual tale of love, loss and confusion.
The Penelopes are a Parisian band working at the intersection of music, film and fashion. The French duo, Axel Basquiat and Vincent Tremel, are expanding their electro pop sounds across the diverse and creative worlds in which they work and love so much. These boys don’t believe in boundaries; they mix up their indie pop roots, love of 80s electronic music and Parisian flare to create truly unique compositions for some of the world’s most famous brands, artists and directors.
These French electro-pop songwriters and producers, living in London, have designed music soundscapes for PRADA, agnès b. and JC de Castelbajac, composed several soundtracks for the big screen, and are regularly invited to appear at the Cannes Film Festival. Besides their original tracks, the band has also created remixes for Lana Del Rey, David Bowie, Say Lou Lou, The Cure, Alt J and Pet Shop Boys. The Penelopes were also the only French band invited to play at the Meltdown Festival curated by Robert Smith from The Cure in 2018.
‘Meet Me By The Gates’ is a welcomed return for the acclaimed duo, and a first look at much more in the pipeline.
