A Birmingham based band has released their first live music video to coincide with their headline gig at the Actress and Bishop in the Jewellery Quarter on Saturday 25th January.
The Rift recorded and created the video for the song – The Maharishi – at Sansom Studios in Wythall and will perform it live at their headline gig later this month.
The band features Will Dann and Alex Hurdley on rhythm/lead guitar, Dave Gardner on bass, Tom Wintle on Drums and lead singer Joe Morgan.
The idea for the band came when lifelong family friends Alex and Will, both from Kings Heath, talked about their love of music and started jamming together over a family Christmas lunch in December 2018. Shortly afterwards, the remaining line-up was recruited and during the last few months The Rift have been busy writing original material and rehearsing at studios in Digbeth.
The Rift’s original, melodic songs draw their musical inspiration from the likes of The Smiths, Oasis and The Who.
“We want to write and produce guitar based music which connects with our audience so we’re really excited to see what our fans think of The Maharishi. We have a lot of plans for 2020 including creating more music and playing live so we’re excited for the future,” said Will.
In December last year The Rift performed at the O2 Academy and future plans include playing over two days at ShyneFest which is taking place in Surrey this June.
